Helpdesk Assistance
The Helpdesk team - Fred Haydon, Dawn Gorris, and Matthew Holtz - provides computer hardware, software and audio-visual support for OUWB medical students, faculty and staff members. The team is located in the Center for Medical Student Services at Suite 216 O’Dowd Hall. Helpdesk support requests are submitted via the medhelp ticket system. If there is an immediate support need, a phone call to the helpdesk can be made.
For audio visual support requests, a ticket should be submitted at least one week prior to the event to ensure coverage.

OUWB student printing is available in both the student lounge in O’Dowd Hall and in the Medical School Library.

- Click the Wireless Icon on the Menu Bar
- Select ‘Grizznet-Secure’
- Enter your email address (e.g. [email protected] )
- Enter your ADMNET password (might be the same as your NetID password)
- Click Join
- At the “Verify Certificate” window, click Continue to accept the * truyenweb.com certificate
(Note: If a message appears stating “You are making changes to your Certificate Trust Settings”, enter your Mac login username and password.)
(Must be on campus)
- Click the Wireless icon in the system tray (lower right corner of the screen)
- Select Grizznet-Secure
- Click Connect
Enter your email address (e.g. [email protected] )
- Enter your ADMNET password (might be the same as your NetID password)
- Click OK
(Note: If a Windows Security Alert box appears, click Connect.)

Dawn Gorris Dawn Gorris serves as a Helpdesk Technician for Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. Dawn came to OU after providing technical support in a K-12 educational environment for ten years. Her experience includes computer hardware and peripheral support, webpage design and maintenance and application support and training. Prior to that Dawn worked as a data processing manager and technical support liaison for Electronic Data Systems and a data processing clerk for Ford Motor Company. |
Fred Haydon Fred Haydon serves as the Helpdesk Technician for Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. A Michigan native, Fred is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Technology. Fred comes to OU with 15 years experience as a Data Specialist, Helpdesk Technician and a Macintosh Workstation Manager. |
Matthew Holtz Matthew Holtz serves as a Helpdesk Technician for Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. A Michigan Native, Matthew is a graduate of the University of Michigan – Dearborn with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and also has an M.B.A from Ashford University. Matthew comes to OU from the private sector IT world, where he managed IT support teams and was responsible for all aspects of technical support for his clients, including routine helpdesk functions, server administration, hardware implementation, and software training. |
David Zhu, M. Eng. David Zhu serves as the Database Administrator for the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. David received his Master of Engineering degree with a major in Computer Engineering from Wayne State University. He has experiences in database administration, system design & analysis, instructional support, application support, reporting service development and server administration, etc. His primary role of services in OUWB School of Medicine involves the design, development, implementation, administration and support of database systems, database warehouses and administrative reporting services. Prior to joining the School of Medicine in November 2010, David has been employed at OU School of Business Administration as Information Technology Analyst since May 2001. |
